Dakota’s CPC program for engineers and surveyors started on
January 1, 2005
The
first time to report your CPC credits is when you renew your
registration for the 2007-2008.
Registrants
have two years to earn 30 professional development hours (PDH)
Dual
registrants must earn a minimum of 10 PDHs in each profession
20
PDHS must be in technical subject areas
A
maximum of 15 PDH’s may be carried over from one reporting period
to another
Retired
registrants are not required to obtain CPC credits while retired
A
contact hour is a minimum of 50 minutes of actual instruction time
not to include any breaks and is equal to one PDH
PDH’s
will be rounded down to the nearest half hour and no activity under
one half of an hour will be accepted for CPC credit
Ten
PDH’s equal one continuing education unit (CEU)
Teaching
an approved class for the first time entitles the presenter to a
double amount of PDH’s
Registrants
may earn up to two PDH’s for “active participation” in a
professional organization up to a maximum of three organizations,
with the total PDH’s earned in this manner to not exceed six PDH’s
in any two year reporting period
Record
keeping is the responsibility of the registrant
CPC
materials must be maintained for a minimum of four years from the
date of the last biennial renewal in the event you are selected for
an audit of your CPC credits
An
exemption from the CPC requirement due to military deployment,
physical disability or temporary leave from professional
status may be requested from the State Board of Registration
Professional
engineers who are voluntarily registered pursuant to NDAC
28-04-01-07(3) may seek an exemption from the CPC requirement by
applying to the State Board of Registration
Reinstatements
to active practice may be made to the Board of Registration at any
time
In
some instances, to become reinstated to active practice, registrants
will be required to obtain CPC credits for the period during which
the registrant was exempt from the CPC requirement
